In the summer of 2022, Dickinson ISD (DISD) & Pasadena ISD (PISD) Career and Technical Education (CTE) departments, alongside staff from San Jacinto College and BayTran, formed the Committee for the Recruitment of an Engineering Workforce (CREW) through our partners at Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership. During the 2024-2025 school year we launched a pilot program with DISD & PISD's CTE engineering students. The students designed & built scaled versions of Tiny Homes. Industry partners from GFT, and GUY Engineering had staff volunteer to have 3-5 touchpoints with the students to mentor them through the process. These projects were scored on a rubric and the students on the top 2 highest scoring teams were awarded scholarships.

BayTran's Topgolf Fundraiser and the CREW Engineering Challenge were created to help us grow and massage the pipeline of future Civil Engineers. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Education Foundations of the districts with teams participating in the CREW Engineering Challenge and earmarked for future CREW initiatives.
